By request, studio DRIFT offers cultural immersion tours - an exceptional way to experience the Arkansas Delta. Pedaling through charming towns, visiting historic sites with hand’s on tour guides, drifting in the current of the Mighty Mississippi, exploring the vast ecology of the Big Woods, and interacting with the local community provides a truly unique and intimate perspective. If an outing like this is something you are interested in please be in touch.
In collaboration with the Bentonville Ride Club we have created an innagural journey that stitches together the best of the Crowley’s Ridge Gravel Trail with an unforgettable overnight on the Mississippi River with Quapaw Canoe Co.
This is a journey through remote, hilly and well-maintained gravel roads that wind and flow across rugged terrain and fertile farmlands on the way to some of the wildest & remote islands & forests of the Lower Mississippi River.
Great back channels & oxbow lakes to explore. Fossil finding & rock hunting at Knowlton Crevasse & Catfish Point. Abundant wildlife, exceptional birding, world class fisheries, the greatest concentration of white tailed deer in the country, as well as the Louisiana black bear. No towns or industry. The only evidence of civilization is the tugboats on the river. Great swimming throughout.
The final leg of the journey takes us deep in to Greenwood and Leflore counties to explore the complex history & culture of Mississippi, directly connected to civil rights, the blues and more.
Crowley's Ridge Gravel Trail traverses some of the most beautiful, interesting, and poorest counties in one of the poorest states in America in a region that has suffered for decades from extreme poverty, population decline, and an eroding economic base. We see this trail as an amenity that both improves the quality of life for the local community AND serves as a destination that will help strengthen the local economy. Come visit and fall in love.
